Beginners' Yoga Course - Mordialloc 

 

Yoga for beginners’ course is ideal if you are new to yoga. It is also a great way to refresh your knowledge if you are a regular student. It is a six-week course covering relaxation techniques, breathing techniques, alignment, and posture modification.

You will be guided safely by an experienced senior yoga teacher with 24 years of teaching experience. You don’t have to be flexible to start yoga, but yoga will improve your flexibility.

Of course, yoga is not just a physical practice, it’s a holistic practice. Through the postures, (asana-s), and with the breath you will learn how to bring about a more calm and peaceful state. The benefits of yoga are far-reaching, physically, and mentally. Some students report they sleep better, others say they learn tools to deal with stressful situations. Once students start to experience the benefits most say they wish they had started yoga years ago! Don't worry, it’s never too late to start, you too can begin to enjoy the benefits on day one of the course.

By the end of the course, you will learn how to move your body safely, techniques to bring about a more peaceful and calm state and have the confidence to practice yoga long into the future. You will learn: 

  • Relaxation techniques - Learn to pay attention to your body, notice when tension arises and learn techniques to calm yourself in difficult moments.
  • How to breathe in yoga - Learn how to extend the breath, expand your breathing capacity, and strengthen your lungs.
  • Alignment principles - Although each body is different, and we may need to modify postures, understanding the alignment principles gives us a base from which to start, so that we have good structure and positioning.
  • How to modify postures - We all have different bodies and what our body can do may change over time or even daily. One of the most important aspects, but often not understood is how to modify and adapt postures. When we understand alignment and function of postures, we have the tools to modify postures to meet our needs daily.
