Restorative yoga is a gentle and calming style of yoga which brings about deep relaxation and relieves stress. All the postures are floor-based, and your body will be supported with bolsters and other props which provide added cushioning and comfort. Postures are held longer, allowing time for a slow, deep stretch and for the body to relinquish and release tension.
Naturally as a soothing yoga practice it has the benefit of calming the sympathetic nervous system which makes it ideal for stress management. But you don’t have to be stressed to attend a restorative yoga class. It’s a wonderful nurturing practice to do at any time and by anyone from beginners to experience yoga students.
The classes run for two-hours and are held bi-monthly in Mordialloc, a Bayside suburb of Melbourne. They are designed for you to rest, renew and recharge, as a wellbeing yoga practice that requires very little effort. You simply rest your body in comfortable floor-based postures supported with bolsters and blankets and let tension drop away. You will leave the class feeling renewed, restored and reenergize.
